In an effort to jump back into blogging again I’m giving our blog a makeover. I plan to have it revamped to my liking by the end of the week. Until then, expect constant small changes and possibly short, but frequent posts to bring you all up to speed.

Part-time guilt

After much deliberation, I went down to part time hours last week. So instead of 40 hours, I’ll be working approx. 25 each week. The main goal for this change is for me to get more rest for this last trimester. So why do I feel guilty for not getting more done around my house with this extra time?

We couldn’t be happier. Jackson Lee looks perfect so far. He has all his fingers and toes and his lips are shaped just so. I feel him move all the time. He’s very responsive to mine and Brett’s voices. He likes to put on a little dance performance right when I lay down to go to sleep. Good preparation for the nights to come I suppose. I got to fly home to Alabama earlier this month for a baby shower. It was lots of fun and of course we got lots of cute stuff for Jackson. Ronda has pictures of the shower on her flicker page, and Brittany has some on her picasa page. check them out and I’ll write more soon….I promise

I’m sure most people who read this already know. Baby Butler is due Dec. 2nd. We find out towards the end of July if it is a girl or a boy. We just moved into our new place, which is complete with A/C, a laundry room, a garage, and of course a second bedroom. Once all the furniture is in place I will post a Flip tour. Now that I’m in my second trimester, I’m feeling a little better so maybe I’ll post more often. No promises. But due check in, I’ll post more baby pictures as we get them. We are just so excited!!!

I have been a very busy girl this month. My parents and Grandmother arrived in California on the 6th. They stayed from that Friday until the following Wednesday. We had a wonderful time catching up, eating, and shopping; And we topped it all off with a trip to Disneyland the day I turned 25. If you’ve never been to Disney on your birthday, you need to plan to soon. It was the best birthday I’ve ever had. I got in for free which was cool. But, they also gave me a Birthday badge to wear. Literally every cast member we pasted told me happy birthday and so did loads of other people. And it just makes you feel good to have hundreds of people wishing you Happy Birthday by name. We all had a great time. We got to the front of most lines because of Grandmother’s wheelchair (yes, we took advantage of handicap privileges and I highly recommend it). This was Brett’s first ever Disney experience. It was fun watching the kid in him come out and shine.(He took most of the pictures but I wish I’d thought to grab it and get some of him, I’m awful) I hate to report, DisneyLAND is just not as amazing as DisneyWORLD. So we will have to show Brett the difference one day. But all in all I just loved being there with my family. I’ve missed them so much and having them AND Brett with me was a dream come true. The next day I started my new job. (With very little energy and very sore feet) Brett entertained everyone while I worked on Monday and Tuesday. Plus, I got to come home to dinner on the table and pretty new Fiestaware dishes. (‘Cause I want to be just like Ronda Saying goodbye to Mama, Daddy, and Grandmother was sad. They left Wednesday morning and made it back to Alabama saftely. It’s been three weeks now since I started work. I like most of the people I work with and my supervisor and manager are very impressed with my performance and say they have “big plans” for me. Which is awesome. But that’s not all. . .

Brett is getting promoted! He will be pinned with rank Lance Corporal on Monday. He is very excited and I am very proud. He is a good Marine and his superior have taken notice. Plus, the next time Brett gets promoted we get the option to move to nicer and more spacious housing.

So, Life is Good! And as I get settled into my new routine I’ll try to post more often.

I got THE job!!!!

I haven’t had much to post about this month And my laptop has been sick. I am happy to report that I’ve been spending lots of my time during the day with my new friend. She is my neighbor, but it took us a few months to meet and realize how well we get along. Although she is five years younger than me, we have a lot in common. I do have some good news to report, though. Pacific Marine Credit Union called today and offered me the full time teller position. I start on Feb 9th(the day after my birthday)It pays great. Plus, I bet I could through a stone from my front porch and hit the building. So I just feel very blessed. Brett is doing very well. He is hoping to rank up in March.

Hello 2009

Well 2008 came to a nice close. Brett has had leave for the past week, so I’ve had him all to myself. We shared a big Christmas dinner with our next door neighbors. We missed our families terribly, but at least we got to be with each other. Since then we’ve just been laying around watching movies and being lazy. Yesterday, we celebrated the first anniversary of our marriage. Wow, married a year! And we couldn’t be happier.

Brett has been trying to GAIN weight for a couple of years. He has always had very defined muscles; but he wanted to “bulk up”. This has always made meal planning difficult for me. I try to limit my starches and carbohydrates and he couldn’t get enough of them. He argued, “Carbs give the body energy.” I argued, “So does fruit and the carbs will catch up with you eventually.” Well, he got his wish and has gained almost thirty pounds since leaving for boot camp. So, I couldn’t help laughing when while looking in the mirror, pinching a little fat on his abdomen, Brett declares “I’m cutting carbs out of my diet. This is NOT okay.” When will they learn to listen to us?

O Christmas Tree

We got up early to get a jump start on the decorating. Brett shaped the tree up and I decorated it. I love unwrapping the ornaments, admiring them one by one. I started a nice collection with a Pier One clearance sale about five years ago. Each one is beautiful and special to me and I spend about an hour giving them their due respect and setting them out on a tray. After all the trimmings are in place, together we fix the Angel in her place at the top. Now my ‘Trees for Troops’ tree is perfect.

It’s beginning to Feel like Christmas

Today, I was given a clean bill of health, AND a Christmas Tree! After my doctor’s appointment this morning I went to the area on base where they had ‘Trees for Troops’. A bunch of sponsors had tents set up for special drawings. We Might win a Wii or cash, but most likely we’ll get a lot of sales calls and junk mail. I’m okay with that. It was so cool to see over two thousand Christmas trees set out in rows for all of us. Brett couldn’t leave work so I went by myself. Our neighbor had gotten there super early to get our tickets. After everyone had a ticket and all the trees were off the tucks, they started calling numbers in groups of 25. I had number 52, so there were literally hundreds of trees from which to choose. The trees were already bundled so it was a tough decision; but I went with my “That’s OUR Christmas Tree” feeling when I came to a semi-plump six footer. It was only after I got the tree home, in the stand, and untied that I realize how plump this tree is. Good thing we only have the couch in here. But, oh how beautiful. Brett pointed out that is is a Fur tree and that’s why it’s so pretty. I’m letting the branches fall tonight, but I can’t wait to put the lights on. The smell has taken over the house. I love it. And to top it all off, the temperatures are finally falling. Not like home of course, but I might be retiring my flip-flops before Christmas….Maybe.
